Ryusyokai Links
Sekai (Worldwide) Goju-Ryu Ryusyokai Page: This website provides essential information for those interested in the Ryusyokai. It is essentially a static site used primarily as a basic resource.
Richland Ryusyokai Karate-Do (Richland, MI, USA): Classes taught by Paul Babladelis sensei (8th Dan) and Mark Lester sensei (4th Dan). This is where the core group that I started with currently holds classes.
Ryusyokai England Shinkenkan Dojo (Ilfracombe, North Devon, UK): Classes taught by Gly Jones sensei (6th Dan). Jones sensei is a frequent blog contributor and provides a lot of interesting links as well.
Australia Okinawa Goju Ryu Ryusyokai Numurkah Dojo (Numurkah, Vic., Australia): This site was put together by my friend, Scott Butler (3rd Dan), who assists with teaching Michael Doyle sensei (6th Dan). Australia has the largest number of Ryusyokai dojo of any country. The parent organization website can be found here.
Sudbury Multicultural Martial Arts (Sudbury, Ontario, CAN): John Cole sensei (6th Dan) operates probably the most progressive dojo in the Ryusyokai. In addition to Ryusyokai karate, you can train Muay Thai, Gracie Jujitsu and MMA tactics. Cole sensei has swept victories in many national and international championships.
Okinawa Budo Karate Dojo (LaFontain, Ontario, CAN): Classes taught by Paul Lefebvre sensei (6th Dan). This site shares basic information about class times, location, etc. Lefebvre sensei is a long-time friend and has some interesting materials to share on his site. They also have a Facebook page here.
Okinawa Karate-Do Goju Ryu Ryusyokai India (Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India): Classes taught by Gopinath Rajarendran shihan (5th Dan). I was lucky enough to visit Gopinath sensei in Chennai with Senaha sensei in 2009. It was the experience of a lifetime. There is another group out of Mumbai India claiming to be the national representatives for Ryusyokai. The only official direct student of Senaha sensei in India is Gopinath sensei.
Shinjinbukan Links
International Shinjinbukan Karate-Do Association: This site has a variety of great information about the association, including the bylaws. It is the definitive resource for association members.
www.OkinawaKarateDo.com (Pine Lake, WA, USA): This Dan Kogan sensei’s (6th Dan) site. Kogan sensei is the international director of the International Shinjinbukan Karate-Do Association. The site, while still being overhauled, is chock-full of good information and a great read. Have a look!
I’ve run out of steam editing this page. More to come 😛
